Lauren stomped up to the door and pounded against it, "KEITA!"

"Find it?" Kody looked back behind her at Cleo, who was looking disappointed.

Payne dropped down to her knee and pulled up the cover to look at Keita. "What the fuck is going on here?" Keita just pulled the cover out of her hand and back down over him. "I'm not home remember?!" Payne got up and walked over to the door and opened it up. "Who the fuck are you and what do you want with me?!"

"It's broken," Cleo told her plainly. "The tape cut when that idiot made me drop it."

"I'm sorry" Kody looked at Cleo, "Was it special or could you get it replaced?"

Lauren frowned at the woman, "You know what I want."

"Well hold on. I will be back in a second. My house is a mess." Payne shut the door and locked all three locks. Her cabin was window-less so he couldn't get in that way. They were both safe in there. She walked back to Keita and knelt down once more and lifted the blanket. "So, I'd imagine you're not going to explain why there is a man at my door with a gun looking for you, so you might want to head into my closet. There is a secret door there that leads out through the back into the woods again. Escape through there."
Keita's faced filled with pure happiness. "Thank you so much... uh... what was your name?"
"Payne. My name is Payne. Now get going. Right when I talk to him again, leave." Keita came out from under the bed and went into the closet. "Alright I'm ready." Payne then opened the door again to face the man. "So who was it you were looking for again?" Just as she finished her sentence, she looked back to the closet and saw that Keita was gone. "He just went through the back of my house into the woods. He's probably sneaking off. Don't kill him, he was cute. But then again I don't care. When you're done all of your 'dirty' business, come back and well have a cup of coffee or something. I kinda like you. We could be good friends." She continued to stand there to see him off. It wasn't often that she gets visitors.

"It was a...parting gift, I guess you could say," Cleo ran her fingers over the crack in the cassette, "from my mom, when I moved out."

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Kody said, "But you won't miss it."

"The back? Couldn't you have stopped him?" Lauren sighed listening as Keita loudly scampered away.

Keita ran as quietly as he could, but everywhere he moved he stepped on branches and twigs. This was futile, there is no way to escape quietly. He trusted Payne enough to just hide in a nearby hollow tree. He could 'camouflage' with the tree.
Payne looked at the man again and again. "I could join you. I don't mind. Hunting people is my specialty, even if they are just a few feet away. But you gatta promise me to take me on a date." While talking she grabbed he rifle hanging by the door and closed it behind her, standing quite close to this mysterious man.

"Nope, I suppose I won't soon...But who's to say I don't now..."

"A date?" Lauren sighed, "I'm sorry I'm engaged." Lauren sighed at least he thought he was.

"Well If your dead it won't matter, and if you lose your memories I doubt it will."

"Well, I'll help ya anyway. So, you first."

Keita breathed heavily waiting a while longer till he thought it was clear to run. He knew that Lauren wouldn't leave without him, but hope still remained that Lauren would just give up. Obviously Keita wasn't going to go without a fight. But even he was growing tired of this. If he can't win this 'daring' escape, then there really is no hope at all.

"That is," Cleo sighed and tossed the tape forward into the woods, "if we ever get out of here."

Kody sighed, "We will, Lauren has had runners before."

Lauren began to walk away from the door, "Trust me, you don't want involved with me anyway."

"Ah come on. You're making this all the more difficult. Hee hee hee.." She opened the door and threw the gun on her bed. "Fine, but you better visit, or I will find you. Hee hee hee.." She closed the door and walked to her closet and grabbed a backpack. "Time for an adventure."

Keita breathed heavier and heavier. 'Did he leave? Did he give up? Was he finally finished with him? was he... free?' Keita squirmed in excitement. Finally he was free and he could go home and drink some more.

"What to do with this now.." Cleo whispered and stared down at the empty stereo.

Lauren walked back behind her cabin, "Keita I hope you know I'm not the worst thing that will chase you if you run away from divine!"

Kody shrugged, "Toss it?"

dude, payne closed the door. and there aint no windows. how r u staring at me?

Keita's mind went blank. Lauren was still there. How did he know that he was back there. Was it the girl? He didn't reply. He thought that if he could stay quiet he wouldn't find him. His clothes and the tree seemed to blend in from his point of view. If he stayed quiet, he might be able to escspe.

Payne finished packing her back and laid her rifle on top. She then walked over to the wall beside the closet and pulled up a small hatch that let her see what was going on in her backyard. 'This was going to be interesting.'

"On the side of the road?" Cleo raised an eyebrow.

Kody shrugged, "I guess."

Lauren was sure he'd hear Keita if he moved, "Keita, I know you're back there."

'Fuck!' Keita thought as he stood so still that all his bones seemed to lock in and he could only hear his own heart beat. How long could he keep this up?

Payne giggled as she watched from her secret place. "Is he gonna shoot him, or drag him back?"

[Loxlorial]

"Whatever," Cleo shrugged and tossed the stereo towards the woods the same way she'd done the tape. "Anything else to talk about?"

"You know what sucks?" Kody sighed.

Lauren sighed, "Keita, come back with me, it won't matter what you choose, but for my sake... please."

Keita began to cry. This was useless. Lauren was there to get him from the start and he knew that he wasn't going to give up easily. He would have found him sooner or later. Keita then began to sob louder. "Why me?! I'm not special...bwahhhhh!" Keita slid down the inside of the hollow tree and sat on his ass and cried. "I'm scared..."

Payne began to laugh as she heard the man yell and cry, and then stopped. It was almost as it she felt, sorry for him. She lived her whole life alone because she was forced to murder her own parents. She lost feelings for other people 4 years ago. Why did they suddenly come back now? She shook them off and began to laugh without feeling behind it. This was funny right?
